Hey, Megs,
I don't have much time to write today, but I had to get this down before I forget it. I promise I'll post again soon. (Clearly my new year's resolution was NOT to post on the blog more often.)
Two days ago, the dean in the office with whom I discuss music came in from the rain and said that he had decided that whatever song was playing on his iPod when he walked in would be the song to set the theme for that day in the office. The first day, it was a Captain Beefheart song, so it was a very Captain Beefheart kind of day. Yesterday, I caught him on the way in and the theme song was "Junk," from McCartney's first solo album. He didn't know what to think about that one. Today, I hadn't seen him all day until he just walked past my cube. He said hello on his way out the door, then stopped, shrugged, threw up his hands, and said, "'Welcome to My Christmas Song?!?'"
[Note: Song is actually titled "Step Into Christmas," but I didn't want to ruin the moment.]
This is especially comical coming from Dean Sloop, who once told me that he hates when people ask to what he is listening on his iPod. "Because," he explained, "usually I have it on shuffle, so if I happen to be listening to an Elton John song at that time, I feel like people will judge me based on that." I told him that he had to get over that; that, as a music fan, he had to really own his love for Elton John and be proud of it. I'm not sure to how many people he has admitted that today is a "Step Into Christmas" kind of day, though.
I miss you!!!
love, molly
